Give Local is back! 💚 Act now.

From Nov. 11th - Nov. 20th, we're participating in an annual online giving campaign promoting generosity and collaboration within South Puget Sound. We're raising money to further our mission to [re]pair, [re]build, and [re]vitalize our community — one homeowner, one home, at a time.

What is Give Local?

Hosted by the Community Foundation of South Puget Sound (CFSPS), Give Local is a 9-day blitz where folks like yourself donate electronically to support local nonprofits.

In addition, the Bonus Fund, a gift from the Dawkins Charitable Trust, boosts every donation made during Give Local 2024 and multiplies your dollars and the total amount raised by each participating nonprofit.

Rebuilding Together receives 100% of your donation. The credit card fees, (if not covered by the donor during checkout) are paid for by Give Local. There is no administrative red tape or fees. It's a great way to give.

What is Giving Wednesday

Supporters who donate $5 or more on Giving Wednesdays ( Nov. 13 & 20) are automatically entered into a drawing for their chance to win $100 for a participating Give Local nonprofit of their choosing. (Hint: choose us.)

Follow the Community Foundation of South Puget Sound (@tcfsps) and check the Give Local homepage (spsgives.org) to find out which nonprofits win the extra cash!

How can I give through my DAF or IRA?

Give Local makes it easy for you to make a gift through Donor Advised Funds (DAF), Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA), checks, credit cards, and bank accounts. Details on how to give through your DAF or IRA can be found here on the Give Local website.

What is Rebuilding Together's goal this year?

This year we are looking to raise $20,000. We've done it before — here's lookin' at you, 2022 — but last year we fell substantially short, only raising $8,988. We felt that drop in donations deeply, and it was especially hard since in 2023 and 2024 we received a record-breaking number of applications.

Can you donate now?

What does Rebuilding Together do with the money?

Our organization is funded through a mix of grants and private donations. While we appreciate every single cent we receive, our grant funds are strictly tied to criteria that dictate who we can help.

Since we want to help as many folks as possible, unencumbered donations like the one you're about to make today, help us further our organization's reach and mission.

Here's what we can do with your donation:

  • $1,000 can build a ramp for a wheelchair-bound veteran

  • $700 can replace a family’s water heater

  • $500 can replace failing, water-damaged flooring in a kitchen or bathroom

  • $250 can repair a deadbolt and front door for a disabled single person

  • $100 can install grab bars for a senior at risk of falling

  • $50 can fix a sparking light switch in a child’s bedroom

  • $25 can install a functioning smoke detector in a client’s home

What has Rebuilding Together achieved this year?

It's been a banner year for us here! By mid-October, we've received 82 applications and expect that number to grow to over 100 by year's end. That's the most asks for help in one year we've ever received in our 21-year history here in Thurston County. So far, we've already served 40 households, as compared to last year's 43.

The need for affordable housing in our region is DIRE, and we are doing our part to prevent homelessness as we help our neighbors remain in their homes. Oftentimes the critical repairs we make for health and safety do more than just ensure folks can remain in their homes — they end suffering.

Just because someone technically has a home, doesn't mean it's entirely habitable. Heat and hot water are among our most frequent repairs.

However, we have nearly exhausted our funds for the year, and still have several projects to work through. Can you donate today to help us finish up?

Here's who you're helping:

  • 46% of the households we’ve helped have someone 62+ or older in the home

  • 18% of the households we’ve helped have someone 18 years or younger in the home

  • 73% of the households we’ve served have someone who is disabled living in the home

  • 17% of the households we’ve served have either a veteran or their widow/widower in the home

  • 70% are women, most in female-led households

Here are our most requested/needed repairs and ADA modifications:

  • Plumbing: Water heaters, faucets, pipes, sinks, leaks, drains

  • Safety: Grab bars, GFCI outlets, smoke and CO2 detectors, fire extinguishers, motion lights

  • Basic repairs: Handrails, stairs, decks, cabinets, caulking, weatherstripping

  • Electrical: GFCI outlets, replacement/repair of light fixtures, repair of non-working outlets

  • ADA: wheelchair ramps, ADA toilets, grab bars, tub modifications

  • Floors: replacement/repair of water-damaged flooring or replacement/repair of old/worn/trip-hazard flooring

  • Roofs: Total replacement or repair

What if I can't donate today?

We understand it's a difficult time of year to ask for donations, and if you'd like to help, but just not right now, we gratefully accept donations year-round. Visit the Donate page of our website to give any time.

As we said before, our organization depends on the generosity of volunteers. This year, our volunteers donated an impressive 4,500 hours (and counting) toward rebuilding our community! 👏 👏 👏

We have projects for everyone — you don't have to be a skilled carpenter or other tradesperson to help out. If you can hold a paintbrush or carry a bag of trash to the curb, we need you!

Visit our Volunteer page to learn more and fill out the paperwork. We thank you for giving local — any way you can. 💚
